MORE RESCUE DOGS REHOMED >>>>>>>
Tyson
6-year-old entire male. Lovely temperament but will try to dominate other dogs sometimes so would benefit from being the only dog. Will need work on socialising when on the lead. Has not lived with children but met them in his foster home. A lovely people’s dog. Being rehomed due to owner’s health.
Charlie
This big gorgeous bear is 5 yr old, entire male, Charlie. A nice, friendly guy with everybody at the kennels. Loves being bathed & groomed. Not vaccinated or chipped. Clean in his kennel. A really lovely looking boy. A failed security dog, because he jumped up & licked 'burglars' faces. Seems ok with dogs in kennels.
Stan
This big boy is 3 yr old, entire male, Stan. A lovely thick coated male, who is vaccinated & microchipped. Stan is housetrained & travels well in the car with a harness restraint. Stan is fine with children ages 4 yrs upwards. He is fine with other dogs, better with bitches. Cats no. Stan lives outside during the day and is used to being left for 7 hours at a time. Has good recall, and walks fine with a halti, but will pull otherwise. Needs a new home asap as his owner is moving house & cannot take Stan with him.
Lucky
We have named this poor girl Lucky as she was saved from Death Row. When she arrived at our kennels in North Yorkshire, she was very traumatised, but we are happy to report that she is responding to kindness, although the sight of a lead freaks her. We think she is aged about 4 and is a very pretty long-coated Black and Tan. She is beginning to trust the kennel staff and follows the owner everywhere. She does not seem bothered by the other dogs. Given the right home, we are convinced she will become a very friendly and rewarding companion.
Earth
Earth is a very frustrated large black and tan long coated entire dog. Due to his owners' ill health, he never gets out of the house other than into the garden where he is driven crazy by next doors Staffy. He is a stunning dog but will need some work. He is so bored at being pent up all day inside that he is overwhelmed once he's out. Just wants to sniff everything and see everything at 100 mph. Owner says he is OK with female dogs. A very highly strung dog who needs to get out of his current situation and fast for his sake and his owners. He needs a very committed person with plenty of time to take him on. He will be a great dog if the work is put in.
Elsa
This very pretty girl is Elsa, who was picked up by the dog warden after being thrown out of a car on a busy road. Elsa is such a friendly girl, loves any fuss and attention. We think she is around 4-5 yrs old, and a smaller sized bitch. Seems in good health, if a little thin. Our volunteer introduced Elsa to her GSD, and she was absolutely fine. Cats unknown.Elsa is clean in her kennel. Elsa deserves a nice loving home now, and not to be in kennels. In Nottingham area.
Layla
This pretty little girl was minutes away from being put to sleep in the pound. Her crime was to be a stray. After spending weeks in the pound, she was so stressed she became aggressive. Our volunteer spent some time with her, gained her trust & she is coming along great now. Only a young girl, approximately 18mths old. Please give the pound dogs a chance, the beautiful Layla, was so close to losing her chance.
Chaka and Maia
Chaka who is an 8y old neutered boy lives with his spayed sister Maia. They have grown up together so will need to be rehomed together. When initially meeting other dogs Chaka is nervous but does settle down. Maia just ignores them. They have lived with children but not cats. Chaka is the dominant one who does bark at strangers who approach the property. Both are good with their commands and walk to heal nicely.
Whisper
Whisper is a 3-year-old unspayed bitch who was rescued from Spain about 16 months ago. She is micro-chipped and having gone through the quarantine process is now settled in home life. She is a friendly dog who welcomes you into the home (after an initial bark) and will come to you for a stroke. She has no food or toy aggression and is good with children of all ages. Also good with other dogs and was fine with cats but has started to harass the cats she lives with recently.Good on the lead and although unable to try off, she has been until recently good with recall etc. The reason she requires re-homing is due to a relationship split and the current owner’s disability with impending operations means she is unable to exercise her enough. Since the split, the dog has become a little independent with regards to some control issues. She is being a bit destructive and will run off sometimes for a few hours at a time. As she was a ‘street dog’ in Spain maybe this has kicked in through the change in the household.
Duke
Duke is a 5-year-old entire dog who is a lovely and good-natured boy. Greets you with the usual bark but settles down quickly and loves being stroked and generally handled. Good with children of all ages and tolerant with other dogs but not cats although not really ‘met’ them. Currently, lives with another dog and until recently with a Rhodesian Ridgeback who has been re-homed. Enjoys the company of people and has no food or toy aggression. Not up to date with injections. Travels well and is good on and off the lead although does pull a little. Has an allergy to chicken based products but loves water especially the garden hose and big muddy puddles! Overall a very nice dog who has been well looked after and is only being rehomed due to no fault of his, house eviction and going into rented property that doesn’t take pets.
Craven
This incredibly handsome boy is 3 yr old, neutered male, Craven. He is vaccinated, microchipped & tattooed. Craven is housetrained & travels really well in the car. A typical GSD in that he is loyal & protective of his family. Has lived with children from babies upwards, with no concerns. Cats unknown. Walks nicely on the lead and has good recall. Craven is fine with other dogs out on walks but will react if they show aggression towards him. Craven needs a home due to a change in his owners' circumstances. He really is a fabulous specimen of the breed. Do not enquire about this dog unless you have already passed a home check.
Duke - tormented and beaten since he was a puppy
Duke is approx 15 months old and is a stunning example of the breed, he is very intelligent, loyal and affectionate once he gets to know you. Poor Duke has endured a past full of physical mistreatment and mental torment resulting in him being initially concerned when he meets new people so he just needs to be ignored and he will come to you for a cuddle after about 10 minutes. He has been so badly abused his tail had to be removed as it was broken, but it is fully healed and he copes well without it. Duke is very excitable and does still show he is still a puppy by mouthing if you let him, he loves going for walks although he does need further lead work as well as work on his recall, he is a well-mannered dog who know basic commands but has the potential to be so much more. Duke is responding well and improving in the foster home, and has settled in nicely with the resident dog and bitch and will happily play all day given a chance. Duke shows no sign of food or toy aggression and does not react to cats or other dogs while out on the lead, however, he is quick as a flash at opening doors. Duke is a strong minded boy and needs an experienced owner who will give him the rules he needs to know his place in the family structure. Duke is good with older children, and rabbits and he travels well in the car.
TJ
This handsome man is 2-year-old entire TJ. He is currently in another kennel where he is petrified but has been fine with his handlers. He has not been socialised with other dogs outside of the home and was taken into rescue for fighting with one of the other dogs. He has never been let off the lead for a good run. This young man just needs an experienced home where he will get the training and exercise a dog of this age needs. We would not rehome him with young children as we do not know his full history.
Laika
Laika is a 1-year-old unspayed bitch who has had a tough life so far. She was left tied to a lamp post and taken in by a couple who would have loved to keep her but struggled to integrate her with their 3 dogs. Laika loves people and she will let you do anything to her (but not keen on the vet). Was walked with a halti but as with any dog of this age, will benefit from further training. Laika has just not seen enough of life yet. With some guidance and socialisation with other dogs, she will be a super dog for somebody.
