ROGUE – Suffolk

Poor Rogue

We are looking for a special person for Rogue. You must preferably be male, physically robust, and definitely an experienced GSD owner. Rogue is a challenging dog and would be dangerous in the wrong hands. Sadly, his female owner has been bitten and so is now scared of him and Rogue only respects his male carer. He is good with a young daughter. His issues are obvious, as are the causes. It is finding the right person to take him on and resolve these that will be the problem.

His assessor described him in this way:

“Rogue looks in good health, he is small in stature for a Malinois but does have the appearance of the breed.

I would say he is the size of a small male or female he is powerful and driven. Very responsive to commands and interaction and brimming with energy (and frustration, sadly).

Typically for the breed, he is very highly strung and skittish, and needs training and strong leadership. When throwing the ball, I did try and touch Rogue, but he was so driven to have the ball thrown he wasn’t standing still.

His owners don’t have guests or take him places by the sound of it, as they are frightened of his behaviour.

I am certain in good hands, Rogue would be an awesome dog, he is so responsive to stimulation, ball and food driven. I am sure that, in the right hands, he could be socialised in time, to some extent.

He would be incredibly loyal to one person. He does need work, as he has developed all sorts of anxieties and bad habits presently, I would say he thinks he is taking care of everyone at the address, and is in charge, which is confusing and stressful for him.”

Are you one of the very few 'special people' who could cope with this? It goes without saying that you will need to be a strong leader. But we are not only looking for that. We want a 'good leader', who has the compassion to love this boy, as well, and help him realize his best life.

Are you that person?
