Luna was yet another dog bought during lockdown and never socialised so handed into GSDR by the owner due to reactivity in and outside the home. Her particular issues being the male in the household whom she took some three months to be able to interact with safely.
Luna is currently in a rehabilitation centre where she has done very well.
On arrival she was one handler with the centre owner and remained this way for sometime until her fear based human reactivity started to subside and she trusted other handlers.
Her dog and human reactivity (both fear based ) were fairly extreme.
After considerable time spent on her dog reactivity via desensitization, trust building with dogs in her company on walks, Luna can now mix with dogs on lead for walks but not off lead . She is able to happily play right next to other dogs with a barrier without issue and engage with them
Luna takes a long time to trust a new human in her company and until she has that bond she will show reactivity
Luna is now much easier to groom and enjoys this, she is fine for body touch and handling, taking her lead on and off. She is harness and muzzle trained and has good lead skills albeit she can be a strong lead
Luna needs a pet and child free home, ideally rural perhaps where the owners have secure land where Luna can feel safe and not have to interact with strangers and strange dogs. Otherwise she must be muzzled when off private ground and when meeting new people. It will take a few meets and greets on site here for her to safely transfer to a new person. She needs experienced patient owners and must not be man handled or not handled correctly.
Luna is not yet spayed.
Luna shows no space guarding but will guard herself if she feels threatened or approached by an unknown person.
We hope that very special home is out there to help Luna who was badly let down by previous owners.
