Zena is a young girl that needs to find herself a confident GSD experienced home, somewhere they can work on her nervousness and give this girl some one to one training to explore the big wide world. At the moment she is happy in her home (which is very rural) and the problems mainly arise when meeting any strangers out and about or more importantly getting in a tizz when visitors call to the home. Our volunteer was greeted by a barky/grumbly girl who hid behind her dads legs, after a few minutes she came over to have a sniff but wasnt confident to be stroked or touched. Our volunteer took Zena for a walk and noticed that the dogs tail couldnt have got anymore glued between her back legs, she was scared and nervous of being out but our volunteer was able to walk her and after a while get Zena to sit and watch the world go by and even have a stroke. In the home she is used to being crated when owners go out. Although in this home Zena is a scaredy cat we are told that she is regularly walked by a local lady who has two other dogs and none of this behaviour is apparent when in her care, indeed Zena has stayed over and happily played with the other dogs and settled quite well overnight. Therefore going forward you may start off with a nervous doggie but it would appear that having another dog, living rurally and being a confident handler you may just turn this girl around.
