This is Zeff, an approximately 21 month old Border collie x Saluki with a bit of GSD thrown in. She is medium sized, ideal for someone looking for a smaller dog. She is a lively young lady who is sadly not settling in her current home. She lives with a family with a young child, and a cat which she is not getting on with. She is very reactive to any excitement in the house and this is becoming a problem with her training.
She is extremely friendly and loves to be with people all the time. Ideally she should be an only pet as she is demanding and loves to be the centre of attention, although she doesn’t have separation anxiety and can be left by herself. Her current owners have been working on her obedience training and socialisation with other dogs, which needs more work to be consistent although has been greatly improved. She needs mental stimulation and to be kept busy. She is a great running partner so would be a great companion for someone who likes to do this. Her recall is good without distractions, but needs work around other dogs or kids, especially if they are playing with balls / shuttle cocks etc.
She has a strong chase drive and will fixate on cats, trains and other fast moving objects. Her current owners have worked hard to improve her lead skills and she walks very well on a Halti head collar. She needs continued work around reactivity to other dogs when on the lead. She is fine to be groomed and handled and is no bother with the vet. She will bark at visitors and try to jump up but does settle down quite quickly. She is quick to pick things up and very eager to please. She has no food or toy aggression.
Zeff needs a quieter home, with no cats or other dogs, and with older, more predictable, children, with an active owner who can give her the focus and attention she needs to improve her socialisation and training, as she shows great promise.
