Zara - West Yorkshire

Zara is in kennels and desperate for a home. Zara is nearly 9 and is struggling at the moment as she has arthritis and it takes her a while to get going.  She is looking for a new home due to her previous owner moving and her new place/garden not big enough for her.  She lived her life in the garden with her companion Storm, they were both used as a deterrent, and at night they would sleep in the garage.  Being in kennels is not helping Zara as she needs little walks to help get her moving, although she was very overweight, she has since lost some and this has certainly helped with her mobility.

I understand from the owner that they have not been walked for over 2 years, so have just spent their days running about in the garden (although it was a very big one). Their previous owner did think the world of them, and did keep up with vet visits and pain killers for Zara.

To say she has just been left to her own devices her temperament towards people is great, she is a very sociable dog and craves attention. Although Zara did live with another dog, and because she was left to just get on with it, she did rule the roost and was constantly telling poor Storm off, we would not place Zara with another dog as she is a proper bossy boots and although does struggle on her legs due to arthritis, she can move when she wants too.

We are desperate for Zara to have a warm comfy bed to sleep in and someone who is not wanting a very active dog, in fact as long as she has companionship and able to potter about in the garden, then that will be good enough for Zara. A definite NO to cats, or any other animal, she has a strong prey drive and like I mentioned, although she does struggle with her arthritis she finds the speed and strength to chase any other animal.

Zara is on painkillers for the rest of her life and we are happy to continue paying for these.
