Zara - West Yorkshire

Zara is in kennels and desperate for a home.   Zara is nearly 9 and is struggling at the moment as she has arthritis and it takes her a while to get going.  She is looking for a new home due to her previous owner moving and her new place/garden not big enough for her.   She  lived her life in the garden with her companion Storm and being a deterrent, and at night they would sleep in the garage.  Being kennels is not helping Zara as she needs little walks to help get her moving, she is also overweight.

I understand from the owner that they have not been walked for over 2 years, so have just spent their days running about in the garden (although it was a very big one). Their previous owner did think the world of them, and did keep up with vet visits and pain killers for Zara.

To say they have just been left to their own devices their temperament towards people is amazing, as they are both two very sociable dogs and crave attention.   However, it seems that Storm depends more on Zara and if he steps out of line then Zara will give him a good telling off. This has never been controlled by the owner and therefore it will be quite instilled, although I did witness Zara putting him in his place and although a lot of noise Storm just did as he was told. I think with a knowledgeable and confident owner, they would soon be able to take control and eventually this will get less and less, a big responsibility for poor Zara as she is clearly struggling with her arthritis.

We are desperate for poor Zara gets a warm comfy bed to sleep in and someone who is not wanting a very active dog, but one that they will still work towards giving this poor girl a much better quality of life as Zara is spending her time pottering about and struggling to get mobile.     Zara would love a special person or people to give her a warm bed,  fuss and cuddles which she loves and small walks, in return she will give you her heart.
