Xena has only been with her present owners for about 9 months, but she has come on in leaps and bounds since being with them. When she arrived she was underweight and riddled with fleas. She was only 24kg but is now a healthy 33kg. They have worked hard on her training and she is flourishing. She lives with 2 other dogs and a young child but sadly this is where the issues are,
Whilst Xena could happily live with a male, she has arguments with the other female dog, sometimes the older dog will growl and it goes no further but there are occasions when Xena doesn't back down and it ends up in fisticuffs. The owners are worried that if their young son is in the way he may get hurt. It has to be said that Xena has never instigated the fall outs.
Xena can be reactive to other dogs when on a lead but doesn't react to traffic or people.
Xena barks when she hears the door but if you ignore her when you go in she will settle. The volunteer turned up with a pocket full of nice smelling sausages and had 3 instantly perfect dogs sat at the feet
Xena would like a home where they will continue to put in the work to make her more confident. She could live with an older calm confident male but would not want her to live with another female. If she is given time to settle and build a bond slowly she will make a fabulous addition to your family.
