A plea from the owners of Eva.
This is an incredibly difficult post to write. Unfortunately, we are having to rehome our gorgeous girl Eva. Due to a change in personal family circumstances – and being brutally honest, her reactivity to other dogs – I am unable to manage her.
She is the most beautiful long-haired GSD, just coming up to 18 months on 15th April. She is very soft and loving at home with us as a family, including my 12 year old daughter, but she can sometimes be reactive to other humans, and almost universally reactive to other dogs – even from 30+ yards away!
I’ve attached some photos, so you can see how stunning she is. Eva, has also had comprehensive levels of training, with mixed success. We have a full Behaviourist’s report that we can send across – but that didn’t solve much to be honest. We did have great success with Courtney from Cordial Canines – who has made her loads better around humans, but we haven’t been able to crack her reactivity to other dogs yet.
Obviously, we expect to meet and spend some time building up the bond between Eva and her new owners, and we’ll also be more than prepared to pay for a package of training and support with Courtney if that would be helpful.
Some of the positives include her brilliant obedience (when she’s not reacting) and her very playful and loving nature. She is more than happy amusing herself – and she has got on with other GSDs before, but I don’t think she would accept coming into a home with other dogs now.
Unfortunately, there isn’t an unlimited timescale on this – but we are desperate to find a workable solution and we’ll do everything we can to find a new forever home for her.
