Seb - West Yorks

Seb - West Yorks
This poor boy came to us with another GSD male who he has been living with. Unfortunately, their elderly owner had been unable to care for them sufficiently and when he was taken into hospital, they were left to fend for themselves, accept for a few visits a week from family members.

Seb was in a terrible state: his coat was matted as he had been having to lay in his own mess and his hind dew claws (still present) had overgrown to the extent they were digging into his pads.

Just look at the boy now! After spending a week or so in kennels, Seb is now in foster care with a 3 year old female GSD.

His foster mum has been exposing Seb to as much of the world as possible. He has met many dogs and spent time with children aged 5 months to 13 years with no problem.

Seb is lead shy and does not enjoy having a lead or collar placed over his head, however, he is slowly gaining trust with this. Once on the lead, he is fine and does not pull on the lead unless he sees a person or dog. He becomes very excited and focused on whoever is approaching and will need someone who can continue to work on teaching him to not pull towards things. There is no aggression, he is just desperate to say hello!

Off lead, Seb has a hit and miss recall, depending on level of distraction. If off lead, Seb will run up to people and bark, but will keep at least a metres distance and back away from them, which demonstrates a little nervousness. He will also run to other dogs to play... But can forget his size.

Seb has seen a few cats whilst out and about and shows minimal interest, so could potentially, with the correct introductions, learn to live with a cat.

He knows some basic commands: sit and down. He enjoys a good cuddle and belly rub!

Seb will need someone who can offer him guidance so he can gain more confidence and work on his greeting of dogs/people and recall.

An all round beautiful lad, inside and out."
