Since Bob has been in foster he has settled in well considering his first 4 years were spent on a farm with no real stimulation. His fosterer says of Bob:
In the home he is toilet trained and is currently living with my male GSD and a female Springer with no problems, he is particularly friendly with my Shepherd.
- generally around the home he is calm and relaxed and can usually be found next to the stove asleep, he doesn't bark much but loud bangs do make him jump and he hides when the hoover is used.
- he's shown no food aggression even when approached by my dogs
- he will quite often come up for a bit love and attention from us which usually ends up with him in between my legs although this could also be making him feel safe.
Out and about:
- initially pulled on the lead but that is under control to the point where he walks nicely to heel, he will pull slightly when he sees a dog, cat etc but generally doesn't bark and is happy to meet other dogs.
- his on lead commands are developing, at this stage he will stop when asked and sit if helped.
- off the lead is still work in progress and he can get distracted by smells etc but we have him chasing a ball, returning and giving to hand. He will also sit and lie down.
After spending time getting to know Bob properly I feel he would suit an older person looking to adopt due to his calm and loving nature but anyone willing to take him on won't have too much bother settling him in. I have had him around children without any problems so a family home is also an option.
