GSDR were contacted for help a few hours before Twig was going to be put to sleep. The reason, at 8 years old he doesn't like other dogs and the children!!! The rescue swung into action, a volunteer drove from London to Brighton and then back to Essex to deliver Twig into the safety of kennels.
Despite having his world turned upside down he is a very affectionate boy and greets everyone he meets like a long lost friend. When Twig first goes out he pulls on the lead through excitement, but soon settles down. Twig by name, Twig by nature, the first thing he does when going out is to search for a stick to carry. He doesn't get possessive over his stick or toys, you can take them away without any problems.
He happily goes out for walks with the other kennel dogs, but gets a little agitated when a new dog approaches. Fortunately, he is easily distracted with a toy or treats. GSDR volunteers have been taking Twig and another kennel dog to the local country park in the car. He really loves travelling in the car and settles down immediately, looking forward to his trip out.
Twig needs a home as the only dog. He is a strong lad when he gets excited and loves his exercise, although he soon settles down after an outing. As he didn't like the children!!! we would only consider a home with older children who understand to leave a dog alone and give him space.
Twig is a lovely lad who really deserves a home where he will be looked after and loved, in return he will be your faithful companion for life.
