This beautiful young boy is Troy who has had a very bad start to his short life. He is approx 18 months old and is neutered.
In his previous home (all his life) Troy was tied to a tree in the back garden when they went to work in the morning and left there until they returned. This caused him mild separation anxiety! The fosterer who picked up Troy, noticed that he was hand shy of the man in the home which suggests he may have been forceably dragged up the garden to his tree. The result is, if you grab his collar in any way other than very gently and calmly, he dives belly down on the floor and squeals until you let go. There are no problems putting a lead on him so the collar issue will disappear in time so long as nobody rough handles him by the collar. He is improving each day with this, but it will be some time until he shows no reaction at all.
He is fine with other dogs as long as they don't threaten him and he is living with 6 cats who he did chase at first but now he just sniffs and licks them or tries to play with them. He is also now used to sheep although initially he was interested. His fosterer just calls him and he leaves them alone.
Troy is fine with the immediate family including young children although initially, careful introduction will be required until he is used to his family.
He is very wary of strangers and puts on a big show of aggression but his fosterer says it's all bluff because of his nervousness/wariness. Once he overcomes that initial wariness, he wants nothing more than a big fuss and strokes.
Troy loves the car and he just loves water and will take every opportunity to go for a nice swim. He especially loves the beach and the sea.
Troy needs an experienced home where they will continue with his training and in building up his confidence.
His fosterer is a K9 behaviourist and trainer and is more than happy to help his new owners and show them what he has learnt already and what they need to do to continue with his training.
Troy has all the makings of a wonderful family pet, despite his awful start in life
Troy is a lovely example of the breed
Handsome Troy
Troy will do anything for a swim, especially in the sea
