Teddy is a 2.5 year old castrated black semi coated shepherd. A stunning young man who is fine boned, and slightly built.
He is vaccinated and microchipped
Teddy is an absolute star in the home. He is great with visiting grandchildren, so could live with slightly older dog savvy children. He sadly is anxious of other dogs when out and about. He is a no to cats. He knows lots of tricks but is lacking in basic commands. He does things because he can and because he thinks its right, but is still young enough to have his little foibles ironed out.
When the volunteer arrived ashe was greeted by an enthusiastic Teddy jumping up and giving her kisses. He doesn't nip. He will bark when people come to the door but that is jusyt a GSD thing to do.
The owners were advised (badly) by a trainer to put Teddy on medication as he was too wired !! to train. They listened and he is on trazadone. I have spoken at length to the owners and they are planning to wean him off the drug as soon as they can. He is an anxious dog and will need some work in the outside world. He really is not aggressive just unsocialised. He tends to bark when he sees another dog but does not lunge towards them. In the right hands we are sure he can learn to socialise.
In short Teddy needs a home who are calm but confident and can teach him the rules of being a dog. He is young and eager to learn and with the right mix of mental and physical stimulation he will make a fabulous companion.
