Storm is a lovely young lady who is sadly looki g for a new home due to a relationship breakdown and is now being left for long periods of time and her owner feels it is no longer fair on her.
Storm in the rtight home will excel and with time become the dog that she deserves to be.
The volunteer on arrival was let into the property whilst Storm was outside. They went into the kitchen and the owner let her in....... she went absolutely balisitc barking her head off. The owner managed to grab her and hgold her back. . She made the comment that she thought he had said she was friendly and he got a bit miffed about that and said he thought I knew german shepherds - couldn't I read her body language - she was wagging her tail he said! lt was very difficult because the volunteer knew the fact that he was holding her was probably causing a lot of the problem, but at the same time because she was so..... bad she wasn't sure what would happen. She gave it about 5 minutet then told him to let her go, she turned her back and folded her arms and waited. She came up behind sniffing , the volunteer stood still for a minute or two so she could have a good sniff, then she put her hand in her pocket and threw a treat on the floor, which she ate. From then on she was fine, very friendly, taking treats, sitting when I told her to and generally being friendly , she saw the dog the owner said she was,
So we know that there is a lovely dog insidee but due to circumstance she is extremely wary, and probablyu very confused by the change in her circumstances.
Storm has sadly NEVER been let off lead in her 4 years. She was attacked as a young pup . The owner says that he walks her in the evening but we don't believe that to be true. She was taken for a walk but the owner struggles to put the halti on so they went out with a harness. She pulled like a steam train..... she desperately needs to run off her pent up energy and once she has done that lead training should be a little easier. She didn't even get a chance to sniff as she walked asd the owner had the lead so short.
Storm really does deserve a chance . She will definitely with time and patience become a fabulous companion. She needs an adult only, calm confident home where they will give her time to adjust and trust. She needs a less is more approcah in the first couple of weeks, time to decompress. Once she has been allowed to do this , with consistency and boundaries she will learn to become a proper dog.
A no to children due to her behaviours and we think the only dog in the home would be best as she will initially be quiet a handful..... but a worthy one
