This lovely boy is Simba a GSD x Caucasian who came from Greece as a pup.
In the home Simba is an absolute delight. He greeted the volunteer very nicely, taking treats very gently. He is apparently amazing with the children and watches over them. He is a very affectionate sweet boy.
Then you put him on a lead and take him out ...... The owner really cannot handle him outside of the home. He can see a dog from miles away and reacts. The owner struggles to control him. The volunteer can concur as the moment they stepped out of the house the owner was on high alert which we believe goes doewn the lead. The owner was encouraged to calm down and let Simba sniff. All was good until he spotted a dog in the far distance and he kicked off. The volunteer eventually managed to calm him down and waited until the dog had passed and then they carriewd on the walk. THe dog walker believes that he just wants to play as on the couple of occasions that he has got away he has run upto the other dog and sat down. It is a difficult one to test that theory as he is a big dog and when in full flight I don't think many people wouold think he wanted to be friendly. Out with the dog walker he has a group of dog friends that he happily runs with.
In all Simba is a wonderful boy in the home but is a definite work in progress outside. He needs an experienced home and maybe a more rural area than he lives at present.
Any takers ?????
