Shay has come from a very unsettled and difficult background. He has already had 3 owners at this young age (approx. 18 months) and has spent 2 months in kennels. As such, he has not had the appropriate guidance that a young dog requires and has developed some nervous issues. He has nervous aggression towards some other dogs, which is worse when he is on lead and does display some food aggression. Shay has a habit of spinning on the spot and running in circles when he becomes stressed or excited. He does this less the more settled he becomes but will need some training and distraction to help prevent this.
Shay has been in foster since the beginning of May and his foster mum has been working on his nervous problems. He is now living with a female GSD who he gets on very well with. Being able to play with another dog has made him much more confident with other dogs away from the home and he has met many dogs both on and off lead with no reaction when told to "Leave".
He has not displayed much food aggression, save for a couple of grumbles, but he has been given space when eating. If he grumbles, he will stop when given a verbal "uh-uh" or "No".
Shay will need some time to gain trust in any new owner, but once the trust is there, he is very loving and likes a cuddle on the sofa.
Out and about, he tends to show no interest in people, including children. He accepts visitors to the house with no barking and will approach them if called.
Shay LOVES balls. He is very good at "Fetch". He has a very good recall....better with a ball on a rope than with treats! An all round lovely, beautiful boy who needs a an experienced owner who can continue to offer guidance and leadership
