Shadow - County Durham

Shadow is a young male GSD who has not been given the start in life he deserved. He is affectionate and pleasant with the potential to be a stunning looking dog.He has some behaviour issues which would make him unsuitable for most homes but in the right home he will become a fantastic companion. He needs a compassionate patient handler who will teach him his place in life and how to behave in an acceptable manner. He is not wilfully disobedientbut he does not know what is expected or acceptable behaviour.  He just needs training. He would suit a home with experience of the GSD breed and a keen interest in dog training. He will not be an easy dog and will display some problem behaviours as he gets settled in but this will be worth the effort. Give him the time patience and training he needs and deserves and you will be rewarded with a lovely companion and a dog to be proud of.

Shadow has come into rescue as an owner surrender through the RSPCA. He was in very poor condition on arrival. He was malnourished with hair loss, matts and a skin infection caused by flea infestation. He lived with an older female GSD who was also taken into Rescue at the same time.

Shadow has started to resource guard in kennels and our volunteer advised the staff to start hand feeding him. This has certainly helped with his engagement towards the handler, especially when going out for a walk.

Kennels is not bringing out the best in Shadow he really needs to start bonding with someone. Have you got the knowledge and time to help this beautiful dog.
