Sasha Yard Dog
Sasha - Urgently needs a home
Poor Sasha recently lost the fight for life. She spent the last few months in a lovely foster home where she was much loved and enjoyed living inside with a family with 2 other shepherds. She will be much missed. This from her foster carer Tracey:
Today is a sad day for us, Sasha was put to sleep this morning she has kept going to the bitter end but her age has finally caught up with her.
When we contacted the rescue like many others we were not looking for a older dog and even when we went to collect her we were worried about taking a older dog who could come with problems. BUT HOW WRONG WE WERE!! Sasha was a yard dog who had lived outside in a pub yard and that is were she spent most of her life before coming to live with us. The day we picked her up was the last day she slept outside and she settled into a home environment straight away. Sasha was a lovely dog, she was a loyal and loving dog who after settling in was a pleasure to have and I would recommend to anybody looking for another dog to consider a golden oldie. I am not saying its always been a piece of cake but it is the most rewarding thing I have done for a long time but also one off the saddest. We may have only had Sasha for about six months but I know she enjoyed every minute she had with us. She made new friends went on long walks, learnt how to swim and for a dog who had never been out on a walk she learnt the routine and was the first to the door every time acting like a puppy every time. So please do not over look the older dogs I nearly did and would have regretted it.
Sasha needs a home urgently. She is in a foster home but has started fighting with the other bitches in the house. She would be best as the only dog in the home. She loves cats.
This beautiful girl is 10 years old and has spent her life outside in a yard guarding a pub. She hasn't had much of a life and we think she may have been handled a little roughly from time to time. Despite that she is a really friendly loving dog who just wants a bit of TLC and affection.
She likes cats and is happy to let them rub up against her. If you are looking for a companion to sit with you while you watch telly or help you with the gardening, she would be an ideal dog. She is football daft so you might have to keep her on a lead if there is a game on in the park - she loves to pop the football!
Although she has lived outside she has happily settled in a home and if she wants to go out to the toilet she lets you know by pacing. Although she likes company she can also be left oon her own for a while.
She is fine with adults, children and even people that come to the house, greeting them in a friendly manner. She was a little skinny when she went into her foster home and had pressure sores on her elbows from lying on hard surfaces. Initially a bit wobbly becasue she had little muscle tone but that has changed as her exercise has increased.
Sasha is currently in Ascot but we will consider a home anywhere in the UK. If you can offer Sasha a retirement home please call Jayne on 01764 664894
"How Could You?" should bring tears to your eyes. It is very sad fact of life that many faithful pets have become disposable items and will be discarded, no longer required. Many of these will die unwanted, unloved and alone having spent the last few days, weeks or months in a filthy dank dirty kennel. Their final reward - a lethal injection!!
Poor Archie wasn't quite so lucky. His story highlights the plight of older dogs
We always have older dogs like Sasha looking for a nice home. Please don't overlook a dog because of age, the older ones have so much to give.
