SASCHA - KENT

Sascha is sadly kin need of a new home....

She is currently 3 years old, spayed vaccinated and microchipped.

She has not been around young children so would look for a home with teenagers or older.

Sascha is extremely unsure around other dogs and does react. She is certainly picking upo on the stress of her current owner when out, feeling the need tp protect herself as well as her owner.

She is a no to cats and unknown around livestock.

On arrival the volunteer heard an alert bark, but Sascha stayed back until she was introduced, She is said to be more exciteable with people that she knows.

Inside the home Sascha is on the furniture and comfortable - very well behaved and happy.

Outside Sascha is calm until another dog enters her personal space. Then she pounces. If she gets away from te owner she would not retreat. IThe volunteer saw her react at close quarters to one medium sized dog. Fearsome but clearly trying to protect herself and owner rather than launch an attack. As soon as the other dog got 5m - 10m away Sascha was back to calm - even though the dog remained in view a short distance ahead throughout the walk. She walked past a family with no drama. In the park, other dogs were spotted at a distance with no reaction.

The volunteer noted the owner changed from quite relaxed in the house - to very tense outside and worried about other dogs and routes. He thinks Sascha is picking up on this and enforcing the behaviour.

In summary - a beautiful and very unusually coloured young dog. In the home she is beautifully behaved - with lots for her to see and watch from the window or the garden. But as she has matured from a great start, Sascha has developed some anxieties. The home is quite exposed to the weather on the coast, and in poor weather Sascha becomes very nervous of strong wind and waves. Sascha walks well on the lead, dealing with traffic and people without a flinch. But if another dog gets within her comfort zone then she reacts - defending her space and her owner. Once the other dog retreats then all calms quickly. What Sascha needs is an experienced owner to re-build her confidence in the outside world.
