Sally - Hereford

This beautiful girl is Sally who is a very sad case indeed, a dog that has had a terrible life until she was found last year. This is Sally's story.........

At around 5.30am on Sunday 20th September 2015 in atrocious weather conditions, this poor dog was found by a member of the public tied up outside Hanchurch Woods in Stoke. She was found in a very poor condition, emaciated, covered in faeces, smelling of urine and unable to eat. The kind person that found her realised that this dog was in big trouble so immediately sought help and she was taken to an emergency vets.

She was in a state of collapse, she had hypocalcaemia and was immediately put on a drip. Staff were worried about her underlying condition so performed a scan which revealed that she was in fact very pregnant.

In the early hours of 24th, Sally gave birth to 9 puppies. Her story featured here: Pregnant dog 'left for dead' gives birth to eight puppies

Sally came into our care 48 hours after the puppies were born, one died but the other 8 survived and have all now been rehomed - here are Sally's beautiful puppies.

Sally is now up to a good weight and now in good conditon, she has recently been spayed and is ready to go to her new home.

We think Sally has previously been kept confined or tied up and used for breeding. We don't think she has ever lived in a home before she came to us and she had certainly never been for walks.

Sally has a lovely temperament, she has no aggression in her and she is good with other dogs both male and female. Although she is much more settled now, some things stress her and when she is stressed she circles frantically. She will now walk nicely on a lead without circling, she loves to run around the field at her foster home and her recall is very good.

She is good with people she knows but scared of strangers and takes a little while to get to know you. Her reaction to strangers is to want to get away from them. Once she knows you she loves a fuss and a cuddle, she is quite clingy which is to be expected.

We have no idea how old she is but we think 5-6 years old.

The perfect home for Sally would be with a couple - perhaps a retired active couple who live in a quieter rural area as Sally doesn't cope with lots of people, traffic and we think noisy young children would scare her.

As long as you have time and patience to settle her in , Sally will not disappoint you and she really does now deserve to have a home of her own where she will be loved and cared for.

Are you that special home for Sally?

Sally is quite a dainty, pretty girl - she weighs 26kg.
