Rocky - Shropshire

Rocky is a short-haired German Shepherd cross from Romania.  This handsome boy has been in the UK 6 months and is ready to find a home with someone who has the time to appreciate him.  He is very loyal and loving, enjoys fuss, back rubs etc; he will quickly bond with his adopter and will appreciate everything you do with him.  If you'd like a GSD who will turn heads but not moult long hair everywhere, he could be the one for you!

In his current foster home he immediately made friends with seven other dogs.  He would be great as an only dog, or with another male perhaps more than a female as the presence of females can encourage him to mark indoors. He enjoys a run about outdoors - so a good-sized garden or a smallholding where he could go to work with you would be amazing. But he would also be fine with a home worker, as long as you would take him out on one decent walk and a few short walks per day he would be fine (he may need a little work on his lead-walking, but is making progress and does not pull hard).  He has accompanied his foster to the office and will settle down for long periods and and allow work to be done.  He would also suit a retired person as long as you are fit enough for walks and not frail.  Experience of large breeds/shepherds would be great but we are not making that a stipulation.

Rocky has not reacted to any dogs or people he has met out on walks.  Indoors, he prefers a little time to get to know people and feel comfortable before they get really up close and personal with him. It doesn't take long at all (minutes!) for him to trust people but because he may not like children hugging him, we are saying no young children - dog savvy ones would be OK but not with lots of friends running around the house.  His recall is not bad at all and being intelligent, he quickly learns new things.
