Rika

This gorgeous girl Rika is in urgent need of a home through no fault of her own

Rika’s owner is currently in hospital and is unable to care for herself or Rika which has placed Rika in an awful situation as her mum cannot come home from hospital until Rika is rehomed as the carers are refusing to come and care for her mum while Risa is still in the home

Rika is 7 years old and spayed

She barked initially when the volunteer went to see her but quickly calmed down and greeted her without jumping up

Rika tells you when she wants the toilet by touching her harness

Initially Rika will pull on the lead when she goes out, she is currently walked twice a day by dog walkers who are very fond of Rika

Rika is excellent when taking treats she is very gentle, she loves her toys and was keen to show the volunteer and allow her to take her toys and play

She knows all her basic commands and gave her paw when asked with no issues, she likes being brushed and her coat is in excellent condition

Rika can be nervous of new situations but does settle down within 10-15min

We feel Rika would flourish in a home where her new adopters have previous GSD experience and understand their traits, a home where they are home most of time time and can dedicate time to settling Rika in

Rika has not had much contact with children so we would recommend children over 12

She’s not been tested with cats

Rika hasn’t lived with another dog and we feel she would be best as the only dog in the home

She doesn’t bother with dogs when out but will retaliate if a dog comes into her face
