This lovely lad is a Russian Bankhar. His owner has sadly passed away so he needs to find a new home.
The volunteer met Richard with his carer out of the home. He came up to the car and was very friendly but not really that interested. He chose to stay outside whilst the forms were filled in, very chilled and quiet. Offered treats and he took them very gently. He has a lovely dog house in the garden but doesn't use it. He likes to be indoors when it is raining and sleeps indoors.
He originated in Russia where he lived with his owner. They moved back home and lived with the owners daughter here until he found a home of his own. His owner passed away last year and his daughter has been looking after him since. Sadly she feels that he isn't getting the life he deserves. She works long hours and thinks that Richard is sad and needs the company of a family.
Out walking he is well behaved. He walks on a flexi lead and at the end of the 5m, but doesn't pull. When told to wait or come he did. He was quite calm. No other dogs were met but we are told that he is fine with female dogs but doesn't react to any dog.
He is said to love children
We will not rehome with cats.
He goes to the groomer and they love him. A real people pleaser. A little camera shy and the volunteer got mainly his bottom or his tail. He knew the camera was out and did a ninja move so as not to be in the picture.
Whilst not a shepherd he really is a lovely boy and deserves a retirement home where he can spend time with his new family. Please don't overlook him you will be missing out on a fabulous companion.
