Reggie - Middlesbrough

Reggie is a beautiful 4 year old entire dog. On arriving at the house and knocking on the door, in typical Shepherd style there was a lot of barking and jumping at the window! On entering the owner had him on a lead and he continued to bark, I asked her to let him off the lead and when he came over I handed him a ball I had brought along and he was instantly more interested in that! 

He currently lives with a cat and a family baby visits regularly who he adores. He is however, untested with other children and toddlers. He is very ball and food motivated and took treats very gently so this will be useful with training going forward, Reggie has never lived with another dog so a home as the only dog may be the best option. 

I took him for a walk and he walked beautifully on the lead, we walked past another on lead small dog which he showed interest in but didn’t react to. We also passed a lady with a shopping trolley which he didn’t react to. He started to pull only as we approached home but this was more than manageable. His current owners do not let him off the lead due to a lack of confidence in his recall so this would need to be worked on.

He has some itchiness and redness on his belly which he has had antihistamines for and a change of food seems to have rectified things so this will need to be monitored by his new owners. He is quite small for a male GSD and is on the thin side so will need building up a little. He is very cuddly and enjoys sofa cuddles with his owner. This is a sad but necessary rehome as they just don’t have the time for him and want him to have the life he deserves.
