This sweet young lady is Poppy who is a 3-year-old sable, semi coated, spayed girl.
Poppy owners describe her as an affectionate, loving dog but she is being rehomed because she is too strong for her owners who are no longer young and strong - in their words. They are now worried about taking her out and because of this, Poppy has become anxious and on the recommendation of a behaviourist, sadly the vet has put her on Prozac which truly is disgusting. No dog should ever be given this dreadful drug.
Her owners state that she is not aggressive, but is nervous, which creates reactivity, causing problems on walks. She has selective doggy friends and is no problem at doggy daycare, but very wary of unknown dogs. Also wary of certain humans.
Our volunteer found Poppy to be a very laid back, chilled and relaxed dog with no signs of anxiety or stress.
She does not appear to have been mixed with children so the owners don't know how she would behave. They also don't know if she likes cats!
In the right hands, we believe Poppy would be fine and become a great companion, her current issues are not of her making.
We think an adult only home or one with older children only would be right for her and as either an only dog or with a nice friendly male dog.
How sweet is Poppy?
