Well just look at this gorgeous gal Olga who is only 1 year old and spayed.
Olga is a Caucasian Shepherd but not particularly big being about the same size as a GSD.
Olga hasn’t really had much luck in her short life but was rehomed by another rescue recently to lovely people but they just don’t have the experience for her or the right type of lifestyle and they live in very built up area.
Their household is very busy and Olga has started to show strong guarding instincts which is typical of the breed. She barks like mad if anyone comes to the door and they have to keep her away from the front window as it’s a busy area with many people going past which makes her reactive.
As a result of the lockdown, they haven’t really been able to take Olga to quiet areas to burn off some energy. Because of this she doesn’t like the car so her new owner will have to get her used to that.
Olga is very friendly with most people she meets although has reacted to men wearing hats/hoodies or with facial hair. On one occasion she circled a chap barking.
Olga hasn’t lived with young children and because of her size and because she is so bouncy, we think an adult only home or one with teenage kids would be better.
She was fine with the volunteer that went to assess her, she didn’t show any guarding instincts and absolutely loved the volunteers dog Radar as you can see from the video. She was more interested in him than anything else.
In the park Olga has been very dog friendly although does run straight up to dogs wanting to chase and play. If on the lead she will bark if she is not allowed to greet another dog. We don’t know if she likes cats.
She is a typical Caucasian in that her recall is not great.
She has a sore on her eye for which she has received antibiotics and is currently on an anti inflammatory. The cause is unknown.
We have rehomed many Caucasian Shepherds and we really like them to go to rural homes where they either have large gardens or secured land.
We think you would agree that Olga would benefit from a home with another dog of a similar size that she can play and have lots of fun with.
Olga really needs a home with more experience of a large guarding breed, a home where they will set boundaries for her as she is probably getting away with too much in her current home.
If you think you can offer Olga the perfect home for her, please fill out an adoption form .
