This lovely lady is Nina and has only been in the country for about 4 months.
She was bought over from Romania where she had seemingly survived well as a street dog, She and her grown up puops had lived on a school yard and had been well fed. Sadly when they arrived here they were separated.
Her adopters were told that she was about 6 or 7 but the vet thinks closer to 8. The volunteer that went to assess Nina felt that she was "Sad" . She has been taken away from everything that she knows and lives on her own with her humans. Nina is a street dog by all accounts and has lived with a pack so it must be hard to go from that to being an only dog and living in a home.
In many ways Nina is an easy dog. She is very calm and gentle with all humans she doesn't bark at the door. She greeted the volunteer in her own time asked for strokes but there was no excitement. Out walking she didn't bat an eye at the traffic or noise. She was very managealbe walking on a harness. The volunteer had been warned that she was reactive to other dogs but she felt that she only reacts when the other dog reacts in a way that she didn't like. That's life we can't like everyone can we.
We feel that Nina would do better in a settled home with other dogs. We think that she is lonely and confused. Most of her life would have been spent on the streets as part of a pack, not indoors with humans. A dog who understands about life in Britain may give her confidence and some companionship. She would suit a home that love the outdoors and enjoy being outside for large parts of the day.
