Nemo is a goodlooking 2 year old neutered male. Around the house he is a well behaved boy who likes to know what everyone is up to and does like a good cuddle now and then. With visitors he is very friendly and can get a little over excited when people are welcomed in. Once he has had a chance to say hello and have a good sniff he does settle down. Although big and full of energy, Nemo is also very good with young children and has always been gentle around them. Sadly though, Nemo has not had the best start to life and has not been socialised until very recently. As a result, there is another side to him in that when he is taken out for a walk he finds the whole experience quite scary. When he comes across another dog he doesn't know how to handle the situation so barks and lunges until he is feels he is at a safe distance. In addition, Nemo does not like cats at all and will make that very apparent if he sees one. Over recent months Nemo has been having 1-2-1 training sessions to help with his socialisation. From these sessions, it is clear that Nemo is full of drive which needs to be addressed. Some progress has been made, but this drive, combined with his poor socialisation is going to need a lot more work. Nemo is a lovely dog in need of a good home, with an experienced GSD owner who has the time and ability to help him work through his fears. He is a good natured dog and with the right amount of effort, patience and work will become a great dog. Nemo does have sensitive skin around his mouth that can get sore however, cleaning his muzzle twice daily with warm salt water and applying sudacream help keeps it in check.
