This beautiful sable girl is Maya who is nearly 3 years old and not spayed.
Maya is house trained and looks in good condition apart from her living conditions as she is kept outdoors in an outhouse (no evidence of hairs , toys, beds etc at all in lounge) and very small rear yard which to be fair was very wet and just cleaned but still smelt of urine.
Maya doesn't chew anymore but did as a puppy, she is good being groomed but will gently mouth owner if she is giving her other GSD attention, she is not allergic to anything.
She sleeps with their other GSD in the outhouse and has a good relationship with him. She is entire and her last season was 3/12/15.
Maya has not had much of a life so she is not at all a social dog and has a great fear of strangers and some other dogs. She is very vocal, she has fear aggression issues and bared her teeth to our volunteer and would not be distracted by treats which she tried to throw gently to her .The owner had her restrained on a lead but she seemed to struggle somewhat.
Maya's eyes instead of white edges are bright red, she will not allow people in the house and has to be kept away as she is not happy with strangers.
The owners have had a couple come and look at her with a view to giving her a home but she continually barked and when the new man offered a hand to smell she went to bite, although owner says she has never bitten. Lesson Learnt - Don't let strange people put their hand out to your nervous dog!!
She is very strong on a lead and pulls badly but can be let off lead and will happily play ball on a nearby field, apparently not worried about other dogs or people, although she hates cats, birds and detests the vet with a passion.
She currently lives with married couple and 3 children (14, 16, 20 years) another male gsd and the owner looks after her son's staffie some times but it has to be caged in the kitchen as Maya hates him (staffie soft as a brush).
Maya's issues are not of her own making but she will need a very experienced GSD person without cats or children. She may be better as an only dog.
She deserves someone who will spend a lot of time with her to gain trust and confidence and give her what she has missed out on.
The deadline for a home is 2nd Jan when the owners are moving
