Maxwell is a very handsome, healthy, 3 year old entire boy whose owner very reluctantly needs to part with due to the council withdrawing their permission for him to keep a dog. Maxwell is wholeheartedly devoted to his family (his beloved master and his two teenage children) and acts like a sloppy cuddly bear with them but does not tolerate strangers anywhere near. He is extremely over-bonded with his owner - who hand-reared him and has had him ever since - and follows him everywhere. He is not socialised with people he hasn't known since puppyhood and also with other dogs (apart from his mum he used to live with, who has already been rehomed), which can cause trouble if not handled properly. Maxwell doesn't look for trouble himself though - on the walks he keeps close to his owner and ignores other people totally (on and off lead), as long as they don't come close. He accepted the assessor - thanks to some sausages and a few decisive commands he obeyed (looking first at his master for approval!). He is quite interested in other dogs and gets excited when he sees them, however the assessor feels there's no aggression in it - just excessive curiosity and lack of social skills, which again can land him in trouble - but it's something workable, with a bit of patience, right dogs around and a safety muzzle. Maxwell is extremely well trained and obedient. He is a type of dog who needs understanding but firm owner, who realizes that it is not beneficial for Maxwell to be so over-bonded. He is a stunning GSD who can make you proud of owning one, if you are the right person to make friends with him!
