Eastern Region – Marley is a 2-year-old in search of his forever home.
30/03/2025 Marley is a lovely boy, full of potential. Marley is in kennels in the North Kesteven area of Lincolnshire where he has lived for over a year. Marley walks out with GSDR volunteers on a slip lead and is friendly to whoever he meets along the way, Marley is excited when he first walks out of kennels but then walks nicely.
Marley loves to go in the car, or in Dave’s van out for a nice walk somewhere, or for a game of ball in a local paddock, he travels well. Often, he walks out with Dave and his dog Kelly, and we have not found him to be dog or traffic reactive. Marley does appear to have had basic training such as sit and walks quite well on a slip lead.
Marley has come a long way working with GSDR volunteers and is a calm loving boy.
Kennels report that they have not seen any signs of food aggression since Marley has been in kennels and he is friendly to all the staff. Marley takes treats nicely when given.
Marley needs a loving forever home, with GSD experienced owner(s) that have leadership skills, can provide training and socialisation support to help him and help to overcome his fear of strangers and improve his behaviour.
Marley needs an owner/s that shows leadership skills. Training and socialisation will be key in giving Marley boundaries to work with.
Marley will need a pet and child free home, or children over the age of 16, this is due to Marley having a strong shepherd herding instinct, where he likes to round everyone up. The herding instinct is found in all shepherd breed dogs and can be trained out of them with a experienced/knowledgeable new owner
If you are interested in giving Marley a loving forever home, please complete the Adoption Form, a home check will be required.
Marley’s History – acquired from his rehoming form submitted by his family.
Marley (original name King) was rehomed at the age of 4.5 months with a family, the children became frightened of him, so he was locked away for long periods of time – he was then signed over to GSDR.
Marley is now 1-year-old and looking for an experience GSD home. He is currently in kennels and gets walked by our volunteers, who say he is a beautiful boy who just needs training. He does not react to other dogs while out on a walk. Marley likes establishing hierarchy in the home environment, so we are looking for an experienced GSD home with no other animals or children.
Marley does not like being approached by strangers outside the home. He is also possessive over food, which needs to be worked on. Marley needs an owner/s that shows leadership skill. Training and socialisation will be key in helping him overcome his fear of strangers and improve his behaviour.
