Major is a handsome, young dog that loves to please. His less than ideal start in life has left him without basic manners and he can be quite boisterous. This is just sheer excitement and an element of nervousness. Major would benefit from more socialisation training with an experienced owner, who can take time with him and teach him that it’s ok to be excited but that has to be tempered with calmness and obedience. He is quite vocal when someone visits the house, but as soon as he’s approached, he just wants to be fussed. He needs work on the lead as he can walk quietly beside his owner but can also react to some dogs. This appears to be a confidence issue and with a firm hand to show him that his walker doesn’t need protecting, he will be fine. He needs work on his recall as he is easily distracted and likes to go and do his own thing from time to time! He is great with the four year old child that he currently lives with, but can be a bit bonkers and knock her over from time to time, so a home with older children would probably be more suitable (or younger children used to getting out of the way of zoomies!). Major is not cat friendly. To start with, Major would probably be better being an only dog, but once he’s received training, would probably be ok with a playmate. Major is a gorgeous boy that will make a fab family member for the right people.
