Major Neglected German Shepherd

Major - treated appallingly

Major was removed by our volunteer Kath from this filthy hovel within 24 hours after the assessment. His callous owner refused to give a single penny towards the cost of his vaccinations or kenneling or help in any way transporting him away from her property.

NOW REHOMED

A very sad Major

This poor lad is Major. Wee had a call from his owner wanting us to rehome him this was only after she had failed to rehome him herself via preloved. We contacted her and made an appointment to assess him, on the day of his assessment. I turned up at his home at the arranged time to find nobody home, except that is for poor Major on a chain at the front of the house, the chain he was on was no more than 8ft in length, he did have a little bark on my arriving but within 30 seconds it was like he had known me all of his life. This was probably the most petting he had ever had and didn't want it to stop.

This is where Major was chained 24/7

On further inspection what I found was just unbearable to see.

Major's luxurious living quarters!

filthy hovel where major the gsd lived

This was poor Major's home, the pics speak for themselves it was just awful the smell was horrendous as there was muck in there that had been there for quite sometime. All he had to lay on was a plastic bed, and his water bowl was an old cut down barrell. It broke my heart to think of him living in these conditions and could not believe that people think this is ok.

Poor major was so sad.

As you can see by the pics of Major himself he looks so sad, he is only 6yrs old but at the moment he looks older due to his living conditions. He was so friendly and really wanted a lot of fuss which was provided until his owner decided to turn up to keep our appointment some 40 minutes late, but I would say the best 40 mins of Major's life.

On arriviving home as unfortunately I had to leave Major behind on the first visit, I contacted Jayne who I told the story of Major to along with sending her the pics that I managed to compile before the owner turned up and her immediate response was to get the poor dog out, which I did the very next day. He is at the moment in Kennels in Newport and although they are very good and I also see the dogs most days it is not ideal as Major really do need to feel loved and given some TLC. I have taken him for his first injection but he will need the second one doing in 2 weeks.

Sad to think that Major has spent his life living like this

dreadful living conditions of Major the gsd

Not much of a life for an active large dog is it?
