Lovely Luna is sadly lloking for a new home as her owner understands that she can no longer goive her the care that she needs.....
The volunteer that assessed Luna had the following to say :
Luna was a difficult dog to assess at the beginning due to the fact she had not been out of the house for at least four months and not seen anyone except her owner during that time.
Initially she was so excited to meet some one new she was hyper and took a good half hour playing with her just to calm her down enough to start the assessment.
When I arrived, Luna was in the garden (where she would be when anyone such as carers came in). There was no barking even though she knew I was there.I told the owner to let her in but to start with owner was reluctant to do so has she expected Luna to bark and jump all over me which I said was not a problem. Luna came running in and was extremely excited to see me and just wanted attention. No aggression or barking, just pure excitement. The only thing she did was to keep jumping up into my face which I dealt with by pushing away. After a few attempts of this she stopped and tried to get up on my lap.
She went a found some tug toys and brought them to me. Play was energetic but not aggressive.
After a bout 30 mins she started slow down a bit and eventually lay down at my feet and was happy to be stroked and fussed in a calmer manner (although if I stopped playing with her she would give a couple of barks for more attention). Once calmed down she was very affectionate and just wanted to be near.
She took treats nice and gently and showed that she had the basic up/down/sit/stay.
Luna was very OTT at first when out on the walk, again due to over excitement but after a few corrections she started to calm down and proceed to do what dogs do on a walk. Initially she did pull on the lead but was easily corrected and eventually walked quite nicely in front but not pulling.
She did however bark at every one she saw but did not try to get to them. The same with a chap with a couple of small dogs (so not sure if she was barking at the man or dogs). The rest of the walk went well.
Due to her circumstances, Luna is a very excitable young dog that is crying out for exercise, stimulation and attention. Once these conditions are met we believe she will be a very well balanced young lady and a great addition to the family.
There were NO signs of aggression in her at all Just a very excited dog that is craving attention.
A Definite NO to cats and young children
