Louie is a GSD who likes to think he rules the roost and often dictates behaviour towards visitors and can be reactive and lunge and grab especially if get too near his personal space. When our assessor arrived he was locked away, he requested the dog be allowed in the room, a lot of barking but after being ignored took himself off and didn't cause any further problems. Outside our assessor tried to push all his buttons to see what behaviour the dog was capable of, he didn't put a foot wrong and was happy to sit, give paw etc. That's not to say that once Louie has his paws under the table he wont revert to his protective ways and we know he would prefer a quiet existence with just one main handler. Therefore we think Louie would be best placed in an experienced home where they know how to set boundaries and give a dog a good routine and exercise and he knows who is in charge. Louie has good recall unless distracted. Needs careful introduction to other dogs, quite excited when sees other dogs. Not known around cats. In the home he is happy around children (and well behaved) with an 8 and 13 year old. Louie needs to find a home where some one to one training can commence, he is only 4 years old, still willing to learn and during our assessment a very good boy! Sadly Louie is now in kennels in Crewe and desperate to find a foster or forever home asap, he just needs an experienced handler to take him back to basics and give him the confidence not to react to anything scary as at this point he will react in an unpredictable way.
