Lemmy is a sweet older lady who is a wiry coated cross breed with no tail. She is most like a terrier type breed in nature. We believe Lemmy is approximately 7 - 8 years old, she is spayed.
We took her in to our rescue because we became aware of her plight and she was at risk. She was being kept in a one metre square cage where she had been for many months, never let out and she really had given up. She has been constantly overlooked - we do not understand why as she is such a sweet dog.
Lemmy has had a very hard, traumatic life on the streets and we think she has had many puppies, so she now wants a retirement home where she can have some fun and learn what it is like to be loved and cared for in a home. She will be very loyal to the lucky person who adopts her, she absolutely loves her walks and is happy for anyone to make a fuss over her. When she knows she is going for a walk, she springs off the ground in excitement. In the summer, she loves to go walkies to the local pub beer garden for a sunbathe, a fuss and hopefully a snack!
Lemmy can be a little defensive towards other dogs at first, but we think this is because she learnt that whilst living rough on the streets and having to defend herself and her puppies and fight for whatever little food was available. She is food possessive with other dogs but not with people.
Her foster home didn't work out because of the cats and another bitch in the same house. She craves attention and can be a bit jealous towards other dogs because she wants all the attention herself. She is though, fine with male dogs and is now kenneled with her best mate Ginger Ninja the Chow. She is definitely not so good with other bitches and she will chase cats or any other small furries. She is quick enough to catch rodents too and would chase squirrels or rabbits all day.
Lemmy loves people and likes nothing more than a big cuddle. She will make a fantastic companion, she is very clean and very well behaved plus she loves people of all ages - even little ones although she would probably prefer an adult home rather than one with small children.
We think she would suit an active retired couple where she could be an only dog or live with a quieter older male dog and enjoy lots of nice walks and the attention she craves. Ninja is also looking for a home and he and Lemmy are best mates
