Leia is a beautiful one year old girl who is currently living away from her family due to their worries that she is getting too protective of the home. Leia now lives as the only dog in a quiet household where although being looked after isnt getting any stimulation or socialisation. However Leia has been to a professional trainer and it was in fact this lady who set up the meet for GSDR to try and re home Leia. Our volunteer was greeted well by Leia and was able to walk and interact with her during the assessment, he saw Leia walking with another dog and being handled very well by the trainer who feels that in an experieced GSD home Leia will thrive and respond well. (Currently a lot of anxiety is passed through the owner to the dog in anticipation of her barking/jumping up at strangers, this we know is quite common and should easily be rectified). Leia is only a youngster and has been brought up in a family environment around young children, she is fantastic within the home but sadly her guarding instinct has become too much when people she doesnt know enter the house and with childrens friends visiting frequently this has caused too much tension, hence her now living with another family member. Anyone who knows the traits of a shepherd will surely get this beauty back on track.
