The Dangers of Leaving Dogs in Hot Cars

What bothers us is that the callous, thoughtless owners of this dog drive to a beach with NO dog restrictions, yet don't take the poor dog for a walk with them!! How cruel is that? Worse, they couldn't understand what all the fuss was about!

Temperatures this day were in excess of 20 degrees outside the car.

These photos were taken by a rescue volunteer at a local beach car park. Already the dog is hot and panting furiously.

Windows open no more than an inch, car in full sunlight

Totally inadequate ventilation and no shade.

As luck would have it, our volunteer was there to help. He rang the Police & Dog Warden. The dog had been there for at least 30 mins so the volunteer covered the car with a blanket until the Dog Wardens turned up, still no Police, surprise surprise.

Then the elderly owners then turn up. They were bemused by all the fuss, but our volunteer was bemused by their callous stupidity. At this point, the Dog Wardens thanked him for his assistance and suggested he leave it to them, which he did reluctantly.
