This lovely boy is just 18 months and a lockdown pup. The owner sadly doesn't trust him round his children and with a new addition on the way they feel the best thing for Kolo is to be rehomed.
Kolo is said to be reactive to most things and resource guards his toys. Sadly he is muzzled when the child is around the home and also when other people come into the home. The volunteers were introduced to Kolo in the garden and they asked for it to be removed. Kolo jumpoed up but there was no nipping, he was justb excited. He interacted with both the volunteers and worked for his treats. Due to his resource guarding we will NOT rehome with young children
Kolo has never been off lead unless in a secure field where there are no other dogs. The owner says that he is reactive when out so again muzzles him for walks. The volunteers took Kolo for a walk initially with a muzzle. They met a guy in the street and explained that they were assessing him to rehome. The guy came over and interacted with Kolo with no reaction so the volunteer took off the muzzle and continued the walk without incident. Kolo sat nicely whilst children walked past again with no reaction.
In summary Kolo is a confident boy who needs a confident handler. He doesa guard his garden but what shepherd doesn't bark if someone comes to the door ?? He would be better being the only dog in the home and needs work on his socialisation. He works well for treats and knows all basic commands. With a little time and patience and some hard work he will be a fabulous addition to any family.
