What can one say about Kane?
He is a loveable live wire and is intelligent and affectionate. He has lots of good points. He is said to be good with children and dogs and lives with a cat. (although they are not friends when Kane is eating!) We could not verify any of this but we are assured by his owner that this is the case.
Our assessor described Kane as all the above but he is clearly a frustrated boy. His owner says that she cannot give him the attention that he deserves and he spends much of his time locked in a crate. When released, not unnaturally, he is full of pent up energy and jumps up at people and will mouth. He can walk on a loose lead but again will mouth the lead. These are only puppy habits and, given enough exercise, these will be easy unwanted behaviours to eradicate in the right hands.
Kane has the basic commands and is ball orientated so he will be easy to train. He should be taken back to basics and given a systematic retrain. This will not be unduly difficult as his personality is not challenging. He just lacks the consistent practice that pups of this age need.
Kane is a 'work in progress'. Can you bring him on to be a credit to his owner?
