Kaiser - Dorset

Kaiser - Dorset
Kaiser was put to sleep by his vile uncaring owners.

Kaiser is on the whole a lovely dog, who is no longer getting the time and attention that he needs and deserves. Kaiser's problem is that his owner has let him rule the roost in the house which has created a few problems.

His owner says he likes to lay around by her feet when she's watching tv or working at her desk. He is always interested in what they are doing around the house, unless they are hoovering. Then he goes and gets in his bed (or stands by the back door wanting to go out) to get away from the hoover.

Kaiser loves going out for walks and no matter how many times he is walked always shows the same excitement by jumping up and down at the door. He absolutely adores playing ball and can't wait for his owner to throw it for him.

Kaiser hasn't been properly trained on a lead so has a tendency to pull which could be resolved by the use of a head collar and training.

Kaiser goes berserk when anything is pushed through the letterbox and will eat whatever is posted through so the owners now have a box on their gate for post to avoid this situation.

He gets on ok with their cat but they are not sure about others so he needs a proper introduction to other animals.

When they go out for walks they stay away from others as he has had a pop at other dogs when they come over. He never goes off looking for trouble but prefers to just be left playing with his ball. The owners have friends with dogs and as he knows them and was introduced from a young age, he gets on very well with them. If he was to live with other dogs I think he would be ok, but he would need time to get used to it, and to be introduced properly.

The biggest problem with him is his over protectiveness of their house and he acts like a different dog when the door bell rings. Recently there has been an incident when Kaiser reacted at someone coming to the door and in the confusion when his owner grabbed him, he bit her. This is known as redirected agression. His owner does not believe that he would ever go for me in any other situation

As far as GSD's go he is quite small, he has a healthy appetite usually but sometimes goes through periods where he eats next to nothing for a couple of days. Then when his appetite returns he has 3/4 meals a day as soon as they are served.

The reason for rehoming is this one incident of redirected aggression when the front door bell rang. Because of this incident, Kaiser has been separated from the child in the house and is spending long poeriods isolated going bored out of his mind

The owner has two jobs and a little boy who now takes up a lot of their time so have had less time for the dog. They haven't walked him as often as they used to and often find themselves telling him to stay out of the lounge to avoid wagging tails hitting the baby and dog hair on the floor etc!

Kaiser is not good in the car as he is not used to travelling but after an inital bit of a fuss, he settles down.

His owner states that he is a good dog after all is said and done and maybe for someone who has more time than her, who wants a loyal companion and is prepared to spend time on his behaviour when the door bell goes, he will be an amazing pet. He has been to them over the past 5 years.

Kaiser has been locked out more and more and he is now showing signs of stress from this, most notably the injury on his nose and he has also been stress panting.

All this poor boy needs is someone to show him how to answer the door properly or someone with the common sense to simply prevent him getting near the front door.

Kaiser needs out of this home ASAP

Poor Kaiser is bored and stressed which is what has caused the injury to his nose
