Meet Kaiser, his owner had an accident and found that he needed too much looking after from a wheelchair. He has a dislike of strangers entering the home, and medical professionals were also on that list. This became too much, causing a conflict between the owners’ healthcare and the needs of a fine german shepherd.
He came to us at the start of December and has been in foster since. He grew up in a house with two other dogs, numerous cats, as well as a mix of both young and older children. In foster, he has spent time in a home with 3 other Shepherds (2 Male, 1 Female) and two children (10 & 15) without any issues or squabbling.
He is a large dog with a big heart but will need someone with experience of the breed to take control. His dislike of strangers means he will growl at them with a deep chesty growl. Coupled with his size, this can be intimidating to anyone not knowing the breed or the dog. Once in the home, he accepts the stranger after a small period of time and settles down without a fuss. On meeting the same person 3 or 4 times, he does remember them and shows a more friendly side, looking for fuss and attention
He is walked on lead with his foster siblings and when let off lead, loves to play and run about but when called, has good recall and has no issues hooking back up to a lead. He has all the basic commands, is in great shape, is full of life and looking for a forever home to settle down in.
He has a lot of love to give to the right person/family which can be seen when he rolls over looking for that favourite belly rub!
