Update July 2018: We are delighted to say Jack has been adopted :-)
Jack is now happily in foster and this is a report from Jack's foster mum:
"I’ve waited a few weeks to give an update on Jack as he settled into his foster home, and probably the first home he’s ever lived in. Jack is a very playful, happy pup and full of beans! He loves to snuggle and play with our resident dog, a 6-ish year old rescue daschund/yorkie mix."
Jack's early life was in Romania where he undoubtedly had bad experiences some of which resulted in the loss of part of an ear and tail. All of this has made him rather wary of people on his first meeting with them. Nevertheless, he warms up to you slowly and then it’s all paws and pets: he really does love being loved on – a true snuggle bug! He is better with women than with men, at first, but as he gets to trust you, he’s just sweet and lovely and happy. He adores his foster dad even though he wasn’t sure of him at first; he plays footie with our 15yo and lets the two grandbabies pet and pull all over him. He’ll greet you when you come home with a couple of ‘woofs’ and his tail wags constantly, which is so cute because he has a bobtail.
He walks well on a lead, and if you’re a runner, he’s the pup for you! He’ll happily keep up with you for miles! We had him on a 5 mile walk and he could have easily done twice that and then some. Once he gets home, he’ll have a drink and a nap. He is quite quiet in the home, unless the resident dog wants to play, and then they romp around. Jack does correct easily: usually a firm “NO” is all that is needed. Jack is also a quick learner, maybe it’s the bits of cheese that helps, but he now knows ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’ and we’re working on ‘paw’.
Jack had a rough start, so his initial mistrust upon meeting people for the first time really isn’t surprising. Once he’s warmed up to you he’s so worth the time! He truly is a lovely, snuggly dog and deserves the chance of being adopted. You won’t regret it.
If you are interested in giving Jack his forever home or would like more information on him, please be in touch. I’m sure Jack would love to hear from you!
March 2018: Update from when Jack was in the kennel
'Jack is hilarious and a cheeky chappie. We had a moment where things were going missing and we realised it was jack stashing them in his little hide hole
. He goes round the Kennels giving them all kisses throughout the day. If they want them or not. Such a amusing funny sweetie.'
Doesn't Jack have beautiful eyes?
