Hunter is a gorgeous 6 year old boy looking for a new home. His current owner's health issues sadly prevent them from meeting his needs.
When our volunteer went to meet Hunter, they were greeted by a friendly and excitable dog – Hunter tends to jump up at visitors. He craves attention and can sometimes take it a little too far when mouthing so he will need a home with an experienced owner who can teach him boundaries. For that reason, Hunter will only be rehomed with older children / teenagers.
This lovely boy is very good in the home and is crate trained. He's very food orientated and responds well to training with treats. He likes food so much he doesn't like to share and guards his food and his bowl, especially around people he doesn't know so his new owners will need to work on this with him.
Our volunteer took Hunter for a walk and found him to walk fairly nicely on the lead. He has been attacked by a dog in the past which has led to him being reactive to other dogs when he's out on a walk. He's never been off lead.
Hunter is a typical, friendly GSD. Unfortunately, he suffers from hip dysplasia, although this doesn't stop him from being an active and bouncy dog. He's currently not getting the attention and exercise that he needs and he can't wait to continue on his journey with someone who understands the breed.
