Hugo and Willow are still looking for homes. They are currently in Lincolnshire.
They are about 11 months old and want to please and learn! The pups are walked daily by the kennel staff and our volunteers.
We are looking for experienced homes that can carry on with their training.
Some people are nervous about adopting a mali/cross. GSDR has rehomed scores of these dogs successfully. There are very occasional failures, but that is the nature of trying to match an adopter with a new family member. They are no more challenging than many GSDs. We find them sweet and nervous, in the main, and they exemplify the saying: it depends how they are brought up. We rehome them to be family members with owners who know how to give them a calm loving home, where they can develop the confidence to show their innate sweetness.
In recent weeks we have rehomed three mali crosses. One of them Flynn was an adolescent when he came to us and he immediately shut down in kennels. He was brought back to life by a gifted foster carer and went on to become a happy calm boy in his new adoptive home. His only problem was learning to trust men, until he realized that a man can throw a ball further.
The other two adoptions are from the litter of pups that we took in. They were just a squirming mass of wriggling loveliness when they arrived - completely untrained. Now they know the basics and are making tremendous progress. They are very happy where they are but they would be best in homes and this is what we are looking for.
