Meet the lovely Hope. She is approx 4 yrs old and is a very affectionate, loving and loyal girl. She is good with people, including children. Her foster mum's children are 2 and 4 years. She gets on well with other dogs once acquainted but not bitches. It's not clear at present whether she will improve with this but we would not be looking to home Hope with another bitch. She lives happily with her foster mum's male GSD and they play when out on walks. Hope does show aggression towards other dogs when outside of the home but is improving with this. Hope seems to have a very strong prey drive. She becomes extremely excited when she sees a cat and pulls towards it when on the lead. We are not sure how she would react up close. She has shown a lot of interest in caged rabbits at the home she is living in but is becoming used to them. She has not shown any interest in horses at all. Hope is a big and quite dominant female and needs an experienced owner. She did not respond to any basic commands when taken in to GSDR and has started basic training classes with her foster mum and is doing well. She is very food orientated and therefore responsive to training. Hope will sit with encouragement and is learning how to lie on command. She is a very strong girl and pulls a lot on an ordinary lead. She does well with a slip rope and is much easier to control. She is starting recall training but this is in the early stages. When off the lead Hope will return as long as she is not distracted/focussed on something. She loves praise and affection and responds well to this.Hope copes with being left alone. She is not destructive, doesn't bark much and is house trained. She has not had any 'accidents' while in her foster home. She has not shown food or toy aggression. Hope travels well in a car and seems to like this. She does become a little stressed at times when outside of the home but settles with reassurance and soothing words. Hope is a beautiful and very striking dog. She is very friendly towards people and would make a lovely family dog. Her new family will need to continue her basic training and be experienced GSD owners. In return she will give you adoration, loyalty and affection.
