Well, this handsome lad is 6 year neutered Max. We don't know why, but Max came to us not liking men much, this has improved but there are still certain men that Max just doesn't like. He has taken to some of the younger male kennel staff, so this can be overcome with time. He tends to ignore children totally.
He loves being fussed over and loves his squeaky toys – which he is not possessive. Max is not food aggressive. He is also good on the lead and gets on with most dogs both male and female although he doesn't like small dogs or cats. Max did live happily with a GSD bitch.
Max like most German Shepherds, will also chase livestock given half a chance. He is a typical shep and will not let anyone in the house unless invited, especially men.
Max has good basic commands and recall unless he is chasing something. Because of his guarding nature of the home, his owners rehomed him due to the imminent arrival of a baby.
Max will need an experienced and confident home.
The kennels have not bathed Max yet but feel he is improving by the day so it will not be long before they do so.
