Eddie - Dorset

Eddie - Dorset
This overgrown pup is 9 month entire Eddie who is a GSD cross Pyrenean Mountain Dog. This is what his owner?s have to say about him: Eddie is now 9 months old. We took Eddie in when he was almost 5 months old. A friend of my daughters had him and his brother from a puppy but Eddie was unhappy. We were told that he would not get much bigger as he was the runt of the litter and so much smaller than his brother!! We decided to give him a trial which worked out fine to start with. He has now grown to over double his size and is still growing. He is now too big for us to cope with and has out grown our house. Walking has become a dreaded nightmare. He walks well on a lead although has a tendency to pull. We have to keep him on an extending lead, although he is ok when meeting other people on walks he has recently starting getting very defensive when meeting other dogs ? with his size and strength we struggle to keep him on a tight lead. We already have a Boxer dog and he is fine with her. They now have to be walked separately as when he is out with the Boxer, he just wants to follow her, will not listen at all and barks constantly. Since taking Eddie in my daughter has just started college for 3 x days per week and I work full time (although I pop home every lunch time to check he is ok), he is not getting the attention that he needs. He is a very affectionate dog and needs someone with plenty of time and patience to train him properly. He is very obedient (better than our Boxer) but he needs a calm and firm handler to help him with his confidence (barking a lot when scared) and he needs socialization training. This has not been an easy decision to make as we love him very much and he now looks like a giant Teddy Bear but we do not have the time for him which is not fair on him. He deserves a better home.
