DUKE - ESSEX

THIS IS AN URGENT APPEAL FOR A HOME........

Duke is around a year old, we are unsure of this as the present owner has only had him for a couple of months.Duke is of medium size with a gorgeous face.and appears in good health.

We are told that in his first home he lived with 8 children but spent most of his time shut away from them in a kitchen .

The volunteer was met by a very exciteabler boy who was looking to be made a fuss of, when ignored he constantly gave you a paw which he had learnt got him attention.

Duke has had very little exercise so whoever takes him will have to build his muscle mass and stamina. Duke is very bored so at present is making his own entertainment, this resulted yesterday in making a hole in the fence and taking off to meet the neighbours, who duly returned him.

Duke is a puppy in a large body. The volunteer says he is keen to learn and food motivated so training should be a doddle !! He seems keen to learn and with consistency, boundaries and some much needed daily exercise he will be a very special boy.

Duke does mouth ( but very softly) when getting attention. He also jumps up in excitement so we would not rehome with young children. The volunteer felt his worst habit was humping but again with training and much needed mental and physical stimulation this will stop.

He hasn't been walked in 2 months so te volunteer found a dog that pulled like a train had no lead discipline who was just so happy to be out that he just wanted to sniff everything and didn't pay much attention to anything going past him.

We  do not know what he is like with other dogs so work will be needed on his socialisation.

We will not rehome with cats.

In short a sweet gentle lad who has not had the best start in life but is a cuddle monster who just loves belly rubs. We feel with the basics of exercise and boundaries he will be a wonderful addition to your family.
